This week, Mr Charles wanted us to come up with a mind map
about our game that we need to create and to be played by the lecturer at the
end of our first semester. We were told to brainstorm for our themes for a
while.
We wrote down a few main themes and minor explanation
accompanied by a few examples.
The main themes that we wrote in our mind map includes kidnapping, murder, investigation and horror. There are more points in investigation and horror because we wanted to prioritise on these themes. Investigations take time and there will be challenges and these challenges may be solved with the help of clues. The ending of the game depends entirely on the progress of the player therefore we wrote alternate endings. For example, game books have alternate endings and we got the idea from this.
Mr Charles came to our group to check our progress and he
chose ‘investigation’ to be our main theme for the game. Other than that, we
also chose supernatural as part of our theme basically because it will be fun
for the students to dress up as inhumane creatures and it may be a once in a
lifetime opportunities for some people. Some examples that we wrote in the mind
map includes Cluedo, which is a crime investigation board game. We think that
this board game fits our theme.
We were also told to add more graphics into our mind map
rather than just words as it defeats the purpose of making a mind map. Other
than that, our progress was great and the explanation was understandable.
